How we are run
Lymington Community Foundation is a strong and growing community team committed to improving quality of life by helping to support and build stronger community groups in the Lymington area.
Helping ordinary people do extraordinary things
We look to realise the vision “Helping ordinary people do extraordinary things” by listening, communicating and working with many diverse organisations including successful locally based businesses, dynamic individuals, local groups, government and above all the community members themselves.
Run by the community, for the sole benefit of the community
We have an identity that ensures engagement and ownership by the community itself. Since the Foundation began we have worked with an ever increasing number of local groups and community projects in our area.
We are a registered Community Interest Company
As of 2009, we are operating as a Community Interest Company which is registered under the Community Interest Act 2004. Community Interest Companies are designed specifically for those wishing to operate for the benefit of the community. This means that a CIC cannot be formed or used solely for the personal gain of a particular person, or group of people. Find out more at the The CIC Regulator or on Wikipedia.
Upholding the interests of the Lymington community today and the future
Totally representative and accountable to the community (and each other), our members guide the Community Interest Company and assures Philanthropists and all the community involved, that their personal and financial contributions to the Lymington Community are totally ring fenced for the present and long term sustainable future of the area. Truly managed by the good will, local professional expertise and total consensus of the community directly through the Members, who are themselves the local community and fully Regulated by the Government.
"Can do", hands-on attitude to improving our community
It is the promotion of the culture of benefactors and entrepreneurs with a “can do” attitude. It is the use of whatever resources there are to leverage more. It is making the most of local know-how to tackle local issues. It is all those who engage who know that to achieve real change it takes more than cash: it takes skills, intelligence and the willingness to take risks within the security of Lymington Community Foundation as a registered Community Interest Company.
Philanthropists, businesses, groups and individuals are able to engage directly with the local community through the Lymington Community Foundation with which they can share common ideals, goals and ethos. Through community cooperation, we can deliver results, and a greater potential to effect real and tangible change.
